ICS2 Requirements for EU shipments.

ICS2 requires shippers/carriers transporting packages into or transiting through the EU to provide a complete set of data on the goods prior to arrival.

No matter if you are a carrier, retailer, postal operator, or logistics provider, you will be impacted by ICS2 if you ship into or through the EU. Therefore, it is critically important that your business complies with Customs Regulations and Clearance processes.

In order to ensure a successful transit, you need to complete accurate shipper and receiver details, along with detailed and accurate goods descriptions and HS codes on all customs forms. (i.e. waybills, Commercial invoices, Proforma invoices.)

Data will be electronically submitted to EU Customs before the shipments leave the UK. The critical data consists of the below fields.

Key Data Elements

  • Shipper & Receiver Name: full name, including the first and last as a minimum.

  • Shipper & Receiver Address: full address, including street, number, city, country, and postal code.

  • Type of Person: for both Shipper & Receiver, e.g., B2B (Business-to-Business), B2C (Business-to-Consumer), C2C (Consumer-to-Consumer), etc.

  • Method of Payment: provide code relative to the 7 different payment options provided by ICS2 authorities that were used for both MAWB & HAWB levels

  • Line Item Goods Description: Description of each item in the shipment using detailed, precise & plain language.

  • Line Item HS Code: the first 6 digits of the (HS) code for each item. You should be able to find the correct codes for your items on the government website. https://www.gov.uk/trade-tariff

  • Packing: Type of package, Shipping marks and number of packages to be detailed.

  • The receiver's Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number. The shipper should provide this on the commercial invoice.

These rules apply to all goods (except documents), regardless of their value.

If not already, please start providing us with these details. They will help you to become more compliant, reduce potential delays at customs and Return to Origin, and ensure that the correct duties and taxes are applied when your goods are shipped across borders.

If all the relevant information has been provided correctly, EU Customs will automatically approve the shipment for travel internationally, thus providing a seamless shipping experience for you & your customers.

Your cooperation is very important - we are here to help.  If you have any questions or require any support, please contact your sales representative.
